Netting arrived :)

Slightly more than a week,  the package of netting has arrived. Looks and feels hardy though slightly thinner than what I had expected. Total cost around S$120  for 100M X 8M of 6 ply 3cm mesh green netting including third party shipping to Singapore.  Enough for my orchid racks with plenty to keep as spare. I shall start covering the plants when the weather is less scorching.

Bird netting

The birds are eating my flower buds .....  a recent problem. Over the years birds have been nesting among the orchids but they have never caused any problems but recently a family of birds seem to find the orchid buds and new tender spikes yummy. Luckily these are not from any new hybrids or first blooms. I did some research on garden and bird nettings and orderd some. The good quality ones avalable locally are quite pricy. They should be shipped over in a couple of weeks.  Settled for 6 ply nylon netting with 3cm mesh size, these should be good enough to keep small birds out. Significantly cheaper when ordered directly from china vendors online.

2 first blooms

These 2 first bloooms to welcome the lunar new year. The bellina "chen" should get progressively better with future blooms. They seldom disappoint.
