Phalaenopsis tang mei chyn

This was my first registered hybrid....  the experience was quite educational and the journey exciting. Following this the process became easier but no less exciting especially the days leading up to the opening of the first bloom of each hybrid.

In posting my photographs I try not to do anything more than white balance and contrast adjustments so as to show the actual colours. This can be especially challenging for blue and indigo coloured blooms.

Bulbophyllum medusae

This bulbo is  one of the old timers in the garden. Bought from Song orchids when I first started growing orchids. Has the ability to throw out lots of blooms and put on quite a show. Easy to grow and not demanding.

Phalaenopsis bellina alba

Got this not too long ago ....  now growing tied to cork bark instead of the original spaghnum moss which doesnt quite suit my watering programme.

Deflasking the seedlings

Deflasked the seedlings this morning. The whole process is not too difficult. These came in flasks so they can easily be taken out. If they had been grown in bottles I would have to break the bottles before I can remove them. Next steps involve washing of the agar growing medium followed by a wash with fungicide. After air drying they are ready to be planted, I am using live spaghnum moss.

Phalaenopsis appendiculata

I got a few of these from a Malaysian vendor few months back. Now established they are starting to bloom. I am hoping to be able to do some crossings with them.
