Hot Hot Hot !!!

It's getting hotter by the days here .....  orchids are happily spiking and I am taking the opportunity to tidy up the begonias and repotting some. Philodendrons and anthuriums are also growing well and quite a few are ready to be separated or cut up for propagation. The sunny weather also means it's time to start shooting infrared photos again.

Phalaenopsis Dunman High DPDH 2

One of several that I have, this novelty phalaenopsis has got many variations and they are all beautiful. Named after Dunman High School, this hybrid was created by local grower Mr Law Moi Hwa.

Phalaenopsis pantherina DPP 1

Two months on, my Phalaenopsis pantherina has rebloomed, it's still adjusting to the hotter growing condition and the bloom is much smaller compared to when I first got the plant but I am just happy it's growing well and new roots are out.

Cattaleya hybrid 694

Saw this at a local nursery last week....a leftover from the new year rush. Large pinkish blooms and very fragrant. Probably not the best from the lot but at $25 , I couldn't resist.... will update the correct name later.
I also added a couple of Phal violacea blue ( krull's navy blue X crystelle ) to my collection.  I saw these at the WOC but they were all sold out before I could get any !   Keeping fingers crossed that colour will be nice and not another of those faded light blues.

A precious gift

This Cattaleya was a gift from my friend, a plant from the KL garden of his late father. This is the first flowering here after two months. I took this photo with my SE handphone to Watsapp him.

Rats in the year of the Dragon

Managed to get hold of a few Paraphalaenopsis today, long overdue ! I had arranged to collect them some time ago but never got down to doing it till today. Amongst them a labukensis and a not so common denevei. The denevei was a cutting from the plant below and the labukensis a sibling of the other plant.

恭喜发财 !

It's Chinese New Year, my willows has got so many new growths ( thanks to Dr Malik's Lushgro ), it feels like spring !  Orchids have been blooming too but I have been too busy to shoot some decent photos to post.... adding here a photo of The Phalaenopsis Dunman High ( bought from Uncle Moi Hwa ) taken this morning. The new flower has just bloomed this morning and should flatten out more with the white portions of the petals transforming to a porcelain white.

Here's Wishing everyone  :
