Dendrobiums are blooming too

The heat spell never fail to induce flowers from the dendrobiums. Yes these are on the totem pole !

Almost missed this Baccarii bloom

Hidden away behind the big leaves, i spotted this Baccarii flowers while spraying the orchids this afternoon. Second time it has bloomed. Unfortunately I could not get a direct front shot because of the way the plant is growing. I grow it very wet and you can see the moss all around the orchid. The smell  attracts houseflies as you can see in the first photo. The flowers are small compared to the leaves probably because they have no room to fully develope due to the way it has been grown. I grow the big leaves and macrobulbons for their bulbs and leaves, maybe I should pay attention to the blooms as well. The macrobulbons are doing really well and some of them will need to be divided soon or have their barks changed.to larger ones...  Maye by the end of the year.

Full bloom

I took this photo couple of weeks back and forgot to share it. Always a showoff this plant. Nice display despite its small size. Grown from a keiki taken off a larger plant.

A bit early for thanks giving

Brassaolaeliocattaleya treat or treat, that name is quite a mouthful... pretty nonetheless.

Quietly in the corner

Almost missed this one hiding in the corner.

The birds been getting through some gaps in the netting

Not many nice orchid blooms to show, the birds have been sneaking through the gaps in the netting. I spend the week trying to find the places to patch up. Hopefully it will be enough to keep them out. Strangely they left this one which has been growing in the open, mounted on a palm tree alone. Maybe it doesn't taste nice ! Phalaenopsis buds must taste quite yummy because they will only chomp on those .......

The scented garden

Both these emits very nice scents in the night through early morning.....the overnight rains creating the perfect enviromnent to carry their scent throughout the whole garden.....
